NCC lauds Tijani over girls’ digital empowerment

The Nigerian Communications Commission has commended the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani, for his commitment to empowering Nigerian girls through digital skills development.

The commendation came during activities marking the 2026 National Girls in ICT Programme.

As part of the initiative, no fewer than 185 female students participated in an educational tour of the NCC Museum in Abuja, where they were exposed to Nigeria’s telecommunications evolution.

The students gained insights into the growth of the country’s telecoms sector and the role of innovation in driving national development.

The Commission said the programme was aimed at inspiring young girls to pursue careers in Information and Communication Technology and other related fields.

It added that the exposure would encourage participants to contribute to Nigeria’s digital economy and help bridge the gender gap in technology.

The National Girls in ICT Programme is one of several initiatives designed to promote digital inclusion and build capacity among young Nigerians.
