Aviral video circulating on social media shows a 21-year-old woman, Favour Agbro, recounting an alleged rape by a Delta-based content creator, Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as “Odogwu of Asaba.
In the video, Agbro alleged that Ogbonna lured her to a hotel in Asaba under the pretext of offering her financial help, before raping her and afterward boasting about having taken her virginity.
Agbro, who reportedly recorded the emotional video before allegedly ingesting a poisonous substance and dying, recounted how she said the suspect covered her mouth, raped her, and boasted about taking a woman’s virginity for the first time.
She recorded the video before the Delta State Police Command announced the arrest of the content creator over the alleged rape.
In the video, Agbro, who introduced herself simply as Favour, stated that it would be the last time members of the public would see her alive.
“Everyone here, my name is Favour from Warri. This will be the last video of me the whole world will be seeing,” she said.
“By the time you will be seeing this video, I will already be dead, and the cause of my death is Odogwu of Asaba.”
She identified the suspect as a content creator based around Okpanam Road in Asaba and said that she first contacted him online while seeking advice over serious family and financial problems.
According to her, she had confided in him that she was under pressure and had previously been approached by another man who wanted sex in exchange for financial assistance, an offer she rejected.
“I told him that I’m going through some family problems, and I need money to sort it out. I told him that I was worried,” she said, adding that she only wanted advice and emotional support.
She continued, “I texted him that I need his advice, so he would be able to give me any idea on how to make money, or just advice. I just needed someone to talk to because I don’t have friends.
“I told him and he said that I should not go. Even without telling him, I would not have gone to Abuja because I have not been to Abuja before.
“Secondly, I know I’m a virgin, that was why I told him. So, I would have still not done it. I just told him to let the burden out of me, and he said I should not go.
“He said that I should come and meet him in Asaba on Friday. When he told me to come and meet him, he said that he was going to help me.
“He did not tell me that he wanted me to come so that he would sleep with me before he gave me the amount of money I wanted. He just told me to come to Asaba on Friday, and he would help me.”
According to her, she informed members of her family, including her twin sister, before making the trip and sent them his phone number and photograph as a precaution.
She said that after arriving at his boutique, he suggested they proceed to a hotel after stopping briefly at a car wash.
Believing she had nothing to fear because of his public profile, she followed him.
“I was not scared because I didn’t have it in mind that we would do anything, because he is a popular person and he would not want to try any rubbish because people may drag him online,” she said.
Inside the hotel room, Agbro said that the situation quickly changed, noting that Ogbonna professed his affection for her and began removing her clothes despite repeated objections.
“I then told him, please, I cannot do it. I’m still a virgin,” she said, adding that she repeatedly resisted and insisted she wanted to preserve her virginity for someone she genuinely loved.
“Even if I want to do it, I will do it with someone I’m dating, for love and not for money. I cannot do it for money or anything else.”
According to her, the suspect ignored her repeated refusals, saying, “He pulled off my clothes, but I still said no.”
Agbro said that when she attempted to stand up and leave, he overpowered her, and “he turned my back to the ground and used his hand and covered my mouth and pressed my back on the bed.
“That was how he raped me, and I was shouting, but nobody could hear because my voice couldn’t go far because of the pressure of his hand on my mouth.”
She said she experienced severe pain and bleeding immediately after the assault, lamenting that what followed left her even more traumatised.
“The worst part is when he said, ‘Thank God,’ that I don’t know how I made him feel. That he has been wanting to experience how to disvirgin a girl. That he has never done it before, and that he has been craving it.
“He said he was so happy doing this. I asked him, are you telling me you are happy doing this? Did I do it with you? You raped me, and you are still telling me that you are happy doing this.”
She said she later went into the bathroom, where she cried while trying to clean blood from her body.
“I just stood there crying, washing the blood coming out of my body,” adding that Ogbonna later apologised, but she felt trapped by fears that no one would believe her.
“If I called the police, they would say I’m still at fault. Besides, the deed has been done. They might still say it was not rape because I’m up to 20 years. I’m 21 years.
“I just said this thing has happened, even though I’m not happy, I will still forgive him. I cannot arrest him, I cannot do anything. Even if I decided to arrest him, he has influence, he is popular. His money will kill the case.”
Agbro said she pretended to forgive him because she believed there was little she could do.
She said that she continued bleeding heavily after the incident and that the suspect later claimed there was medication costing N32,000 that would make her “go back to normal.”
According to her, he never gave her the money for the medication, but instead sent only the transport fare for her to return to Warri.
“He sent me about N8,000 for transport back to Warri. He did not give me money for the drugs, nothing,” she said.
She further alleged that although he claimed he was arranging ₦50,000 for her medical treatment, she later realised he never intended to send the money.
“I told him I was not leaving until he sent me the money for the drugs. He said I should go, that he was going to send it. I had no option because I didn’t want to sleep there; I had to leave,” she said.
The Delta State Police Command has since confirmed Ogbonna’s arrest over the alleged rape and says investigations into the allegations are ongoing.
The suspect has not been convicted, and the allegations remain subject to police investigation and any subsequent court proceedings.
