The Government of Qatar has condemned the deadly attack on a village in Zamfara State, describing it as a criminal act that led to dozens of deaths and multiple abductions.
In a statement issued on Monday in Doha, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced the assault on a community in northwestern Nigeria, which reportedly left at least 30 people dead and several abducted.
Qatar commiserated with the government and families of the victims, while wishing for the safe return of the abductees.
The statement reads, “The State of Qatar voices its strong condemnation and denunciation of the attack that targeted a village in Zamfara State, northwest of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which led to dozens of deaths and the abduction of a number of women and children.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterates the State of Qatar’s stance rejecting violence, terrorism, and criminal acts, regardless of the motives and reasons.
“The Ministry expresses the State of Qatar’s condolences to the families of the victims, and to the government and people of Nigeria, wishing for the safety of the abductees.”
The reaction followed a fresh attack by armed bandits on Dutsin Dan Ajiya village in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Tribune Online reports that a source in the area said the attack occurred late Thursday night and left at least 30 people dead, with several others abducted and many injured.
According to a local source, the heavily armed attackers arrived on motorcycles around midnight, blocked roads leading to the village, and opened fire on residents. By Friday morning, no fewer than 30 bodies had reportedly been recovered along the main road into the village and within the community.
The source added that many villagers sustained injuries during the assault, while residents of the affected community and neighbouring villages have fled their homes over fears of further violence.
