An explosion at a cooking gas shop caused panic among residents of Liberty Junction in Kubwa, within the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, on Sunday morning.
Witnesses said a loud blast and thick smoke billowing from the shop prompted people nearby to flee as fire spread through the premises.
The blaze destroyed property reportedly worth millions of naira.

The extent of the damage had not been confirmed, and the cause of the explosion remained unknown at the time of reporting. It was also unclear whether anyone had been injured or killed.
Personnel from the Federal Fire Service’s Area 10 station in Garki responded to the fire and prevented it from spreading to nearby properties and homes.
Residents praised the firefighters for their quick response, saying it helped protect lives and limit further damage.
