A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Lagos State, Laja Adeoye, has vowed to end the long reign of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state in 2027.
Adeoye, in a statement on Sunday, said the time of the APC was up with his entry into the governorship race.
According to him, Lagosians are tired of successive APC-led governments and are yearning for a new beginning.
Adeoye, a real estate mogul and Managing Director of Fendini Limited, a property development company, said he represents that new beginning and is prepared to offer transformative leadership to propel the state to greater heights.
“I am running to offer a credible, formidable alternative rooted in proven delivery and vision. I represent fresh, innovative and people-centred leadership that the ruling APC has not provided.
“Through strategic alliances, including strong backing from the Lagos for Prosperity Group and engagement with bodies such as the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) and other committed groups, we are building momentum among youths, entrepreneurs, community leaders and disillusioned residents.
“My approach will be issue-based, addressing real challenges such as housing shortages, traffic gridlock and unemployment with practical solutions drawn from my real estate expertise and entrepreneurial success.
“We will rally all democratic forces, run a robust grassroots campaign and demonstrate that Lagos deserves better—not governance without accountability,” he said.
He noted that his agenda for Lagos is anchored on education, security, healthcare, housing and economic diversification.
The aspirant added that his endorsement by major groups in the state, including the Lagos for Prosperity Group, reflects growing acceptance among residents.
He also promised to reform the civil service through an improved reward system that would enhance efficiency, employment and capacity development.
On economic diversification and job creation, Adeoye said he would boost entrepreneurship, tech hubs, SMEs, tourism, the ocean economy, agriculture and industrial clusters.
He said these initiatives would generate millions of jobs, reduce reliance on federal allocations and empower youths, women and underserved communities.
“I will work with all critical stakeholders, including the business community, youths, women and traditional institutions, to improve the quality of life for all Lagosians and foster unity,” he said.
On infrastructure and sustainable development, he pledged to modernise transportation through expanded rail and BRT systems, as well as build more roads across the Lagos IBILE divisions.
“We will improve access to education and healthcare, enhance security, promote local government autonomy, and implement sustainable waste management and environmental protection,” he added.
On addressing the rising cost of living, Adeoye said his administration would create sustainable jobs through economic diversification, make housing more affordable, and support SMEs and the informal sector with access to finance, training and markets.
“Policies will focus on reducing dependency on imports through local production in agriculture and industry, while ensuring efficient public services that lower daily expenses on transport and utilities.
“Prosperity must reach every Lagosian—not just a few. My administration will also work to eliminate multiple and duplicative taxes, which burden businesses,” he said.
On waste management, he pledged to prioritise sustainable environmental practices, modern waste systems and recycling to keep Lagos clean and liveable.
Speaking on youth opportunities, he said: “My administration will create millions of sustainable jobs and prioritise youth and women’s inclusion.
“Young people will not just survive; they will thrive and lead the prosperity agenda.”
On support for SMEs and informal sector workers, Adeoye pledged to provide easier access to affordable credit, business training, market linkages and regulatory reforms to empower them as the backbone of the economy.
“Tax incentives and one-stop support centres will help them scale and formalise where beneficial.
“To attract foreign investment, my administration will create a secure, predictable and business-friendly environment with improved infrastructure, policy stability and incentives tailored to key sectors such as technology, real estate, tourism and manufacturing.
“Leveraging my international networks and private-sector credibility, we will position Lagos as Africa’s premier investment destination—transparent, innovative and ready for partnership.
“Prosperity must be inclusive, and the gains from foreign direct investment will be channelled into job creation and capacity building for all Lagosians,” he added.
